Paul Arthur Oncken
Paul Arthur Oncken, 71, of Weimar, died Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Paul was born on Oct. 21, 1945 in the Wildwood Community to Arthur and Agnes (Heger) Oncken. He married Carole Corliss on April 12, 1975 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada. He was a farmer/rancher in the Weimar area all of his life.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Michael Church with Father Wayne Flagg officiating, with interment following at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Oncken Jr., Shandy Oncken, Dennis Brett Jurek, Chris Jurek, Lloyd “Bubba” Monson Jr., Andy Young Jr., Kent Vick and Scott Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Grunewald, Wilbert Olsovsky, Kenneth Rabel, Kerwin Vornsand, James Lange, Larry Hartensteiner, David Heller, Melvin Banse, Norbert Banse, Melvin (Jimmy) Guenther, Henry Hudec Jr., and Jimmy Cejka.
Paul Oncken is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carole. He leaves behind one daughter Jennifer Pesak and husband Brandon, and one son Jason Oncken, all of Weimar. Also surviving are four sisters, Artie Monson of Elgin, Agnes Jurek and husband Dennis of Schulenburg, Clara Holub and husband Tommy of Katy and Cynthia Beene and husband James of Luling; sister-in-law Irene Oncken of Katy; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Two grandchildren, Heston and Holten Pesak, also survive.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Agnes Oncken of Weimar; one brother John G. Oncken of Katy; one brother-in-law Lloyd Monson Sr., of Elgin and an infant niece Janet Sue Monson of Elgin.
Memorials may be given to St. Michael Church or School, Brazos Valley Hospice or Weimar High School Athletic Fund.
Hubbard Funeral Home of Weimar was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
