Tipton Trials Rescheduled

The Iowa criminal trials for Tommy and Eddie Tipton have rescheduled for later this year. The brothers are accused of several felonies in connection with a nationwide lottery-rigging scandal.

Tommy Tipton was set to appear in a Polk County, Iowa court on Jan. 23 with Eddie’s trial following at the beginning of February. Tommy’s trial was reset for Sept. 11 while Eddie is now set to appear in court on July 10. Eddie Tipton was the information security director for the Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association until the scandal broke. He is accused of hacking the computers used to generate random numbers for lottery games in over 20 states. Authorities have identified seven tainted lottery jackpots. Tommy Tipton retired from the County as Justice of the Peace in wake of the allegations in 2015.

Court records show that both brothers reside in the Flatonia area.
