Loomis

Marjorie (Nichols) Loomis, 91, of La Grange, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin.

Marjorie was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. on Oct. 7, 1925, the daughter of Herbert and Florence (Barker) Nichols. She married Fred Loomis on Oct. 31, 1947 in Austin.

She was the co-owner with her husband and secretary for their tax preparation business.

Marjorie was a member of the La Grange Garden Club, the Women’s Methodist Club and the VFW.

Her many enjoyments in life included oil painting, gardening, traveling and spending time at the beach with her family and extended family members. She was an avid reader and a devoted biologist.

She is survived by son, Will Loomis and wife, Ruth, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Donna Loomis of La Grange; son-in-law, Richard Erwinloomis of Austin; grandchildren: Jasmine Jo Kienne, Cedar Erwinloomis, Billy Erwinloomis and wife, Virginia; great-grandchildren: Elian Bartz, Amelie Bartz, Alex Erwinloomis, Brandon French and wife, Jenny; Dylan Dwinell and Bella Dwinell and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Loomis; brother, Bill Nichols; in-laws: Wendell S. Loomis and Lily H. (Brammer) Loomis; and four children: Robert Loomis, Wendy Loomis Wright, Bonnie Erwinloomis, and Carl Everett Loomis.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden Rd., in La Grange. The funeral service followed beginning at 2 p.m. with burial at La Grange City Cemetery.
