Zapalac

A gathering for family and friends of John Lester Zapalac, 49, of La Grange will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. John died on Feb. 9, 2017 in La Grange. Born on Jan. 16, 1968 to Lester (Buddy) and Florice (Roberts) Zapalac, John worked at J and J Metal Works as a metal fabricator. He was a 1986 graduate of La Grange High School. His interests included motorcycles, fast cars, and drinking beer. None of these however compared to the love he had for his children and beloved pet Schnauzer Shyane. Surviving are a son, Johnathan Lester Zapalac, and fiance’ Destiny Stelaboty Fine and daughter, Ashten Zapalac and fiance’ Matthew Gene Frazier, all of La Grange; two sisters, Leah Tietjen, and husband Larry of Rutersville and Lestell Villanueva, and husband Leroy of Richmond; grandson, Gage Patrick Zapalac; four nieces, Vicki Janda and Sherri Janda, both of Weimar, Wendy Janda of Dallas, and Holli Tietjen of Rutersville; and one nephew, Chad Tietjen of Rutersville. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lester (Bubba) Zapalac. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Welch Veterinary Hospital in care of John Zapalac for the continued care of his Schnauzer Shyane, or to the charity of ones’ choice. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
