Haney
Charles Haney, 77, of Weimar, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. Charles was born in Winchester on Feb. 15, 1939, the son of Henry and Esther (Symank) Haney. He married Bernice Elisie Anders on Nov. 17, 1962. He was a member of the Weimar United Church of Christ. Charles worked for a pest control company for many years. He was a sportsman who enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He loved playing dominoes and poker with his family and friends. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bernice, of 54 years; three daughters: Lizetta Vanicek and husband, Mark, of Weimar; Dawn Davila and husband, Edward, of Weimar; and Dena Berger and husband, Jon, of Columbus; four grandchildren: Travis Vanicek and wife, Bianka; Troy Vanicek; Trey Davila; and Trevor Berger; and great grandson, Brisyn; two brothers: Hank Haney and wife, Jean, of Austin; Jimmy Haney and wife, Janice, of Freyburg; two sisters: Carolyn Chovanec and husband, Jimmy, of El Campo; and Joyce Bubela of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Haney; and two sisters: Ruthie Lewis and Minnie North. A memorial service will be held at United Church of Christ, 403 W. Main St. in Weimar at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E.
