Funeral services for Janie Myers, 52 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Uche Andeh officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville at a later date. Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.The family will be present for visitation Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. Jane Marie (Prihoda) Myers was born on June 13, 1964 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of LeRoy Robert Prihoda and Angeline Mary (Canik) Prihoda. She graduated from Giddings High School in 1982. Janie had worked as an office manager in a medical office in Houston for several years. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings. Janie loved to do crafts and was a collector of all things. She was a nature buff who enjoyed spending time walking and exploring the outdoors. She loved everyone and the friendship and love she showed to those she came in contact with will long be remembered by those blessed to cross her path. Following a life-threatening illness three years ago, Janie’s outlook on life changed. Her faith strengthened and she made it her mission to use her second chance as an opportunity to use her hugs and smiles to show that love unites all of us together. Janie left this world unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2017 at her home in Giddings.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, August and Mary Canik and Henry and Lena Prihoda and her father, LeRoy Prihoda. Janie is survived by her daughter, Kadra Schimank and Matt Nowlin of Giddings; her son, Garrett Schimank and Penelope of Giddings; her mother, Angie Prihoda of Giddings; three sisters, Debbie Namken of Giddings, Cyndi Cheney and her husband, Scott of Garden Ridge and Barbie Yakel and her husband, Rick of Lakin, Kan.; two brothers, Greg Prihoda of Giddings and Tom Prihoda and his wife, Susan of McDade; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to the St. Margaret’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 485 South Leon Street, Giddings, Texas 78942 or to the charity of one’s choice.
