William Paul Kohlleppel, Jr., 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at his home in Castroville. Paul was born April 18, 1934 in San Antonio to William Paul Kohlleppel, Sr. and Lillie Emma Buch Kohlleppel. Paul retired from the Army as a CW4, after serving for 26 years during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army, he returned home to his farm and ranch. As his health declined and he could no longer climb on the tractor he focused on raising cattle. When he and Jacqueline lived in Schulenburg, he became a member of the Schulenburg VFW. He was a member of the Texas Farm Bureau and was a past president of both the Medina County and Fayette County Farm Bureau. Paul also served as a Manager and Board President for the East Medina County Water Supply Corp. On Aug. 8, 1953, Paul married Jacqueline Fowler at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia. They were married for over 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Paul Kohlleppel, III and brothers, Edgar and Clarence Kohlleppel. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Kohlleppel of Castroville; children, Susann (Tim) McGee of Atlanta, Ga., Tim (Kathy) Kohlleppel of Yancey and Krista (Mark) Lamon of Castroville; daughter-in-law, Maxine Kohlleppel of Sealy; grandchildren, William Paul “BJ” Kohlleppel, IV, Ryan (Callie) McGee, Mark Joseph (Ashley) Lamon, Jr., Jacob Patrick (Jenna) Lamon, Jason Paul Kohlleppel, William Paul Lamon and Alexander John Lamon; great-grandchildren, Mattie McGee, Jack McGee, Victoria Lamon, Katelyn Lamon, Rebecca Lamon and Mia Lamon; sister, Johanna Hansen of San Marcos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made in Paul’s memory to St. Louis Catholic School or the charity of your choice.
