Pauline A. (Orsak) Motl, 96, of La Grange, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at St. Mark’s Medical Center. Pauline was born in Fayetteville on May 31, 1920, the daughter of John K. Orsak and Pauline (Jochec) Orsak. She was the youngest of four children. After she graduated as valedictorian from St. John’s Catholic School, she continued her education at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education. She devoted twenty-six years to teaching in Catholic Schools. On July 4, 1968, she married Victor V. Motl in Lake Jackson at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They moved to Clute and then to Lake Jackson where Victor worked as an electrical contractor at Dow Chemical Company. Every year they took time out to relax. They traveled to Europe, Mexico and to various scenic states in the United States. Her faith inspired her to be generous with her time, talent and treasure throughout her life. For several years she coordinated or taught religious classes in her parish. She served as a Minister of the Eucharist, as a lector and was a member of the parish council. She also found time to bring the Eucharist and visited the Catholic residents at the Woodlake Nursing Center once a week. In January, 2002, several years after her husband’s death, Pauline bid farewell to her friends in the Brazosport Area- Clute, Freeport and Lake Jackson and moved to La Grange. She joined the membership of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation No. 1962, the Sacred Heart Altar Society and the KJZT Society No. 10. Pauline enjoyed her meticulous flower garden and had a special love for her animal friends especially her German Shepherds. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Leona Orsak, of Katy; nieces: Stacy Ryza of La Grange; Gwen Ortman and husband, Dwayne, of Katy; Jeanette Hrachovy of Brenham; nephew-in-law, Don Codenys of Fayetteville; two great-nieces: Denise Henderson and husband, Gil; and Melissa Maxwell of La Grange; two great-nephews: Ken Ryza and wife, Barbara, of Cameron; and Robert Ortman and wife, Dr. Chelsey, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four great-great nieces; and three great-great nephews, and three great-greatgreat nephews, and one greatgreat- great niece, plus many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her parents; two sisters: Ella Evanicky and husband, Peter; and Louise Motl; brother, Alfred R. Orsak; niece, Judy Codenys; and nephew- in-law, Lawrence W. Ryza. Visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017. Burial followed at Fayetteville Catholic Cemetery.
