Funeral services for Gilbert Pietsch, 71 of Houston, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with the family being present for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Gilbert William Pietsch passed into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, unexpectedly at his home in Houston on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Gilbert was born on Oct. 23, 1945 in La Grange, to Willie and Lorene (Ahlhorn) Pietsch of Ledbetter. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek and confirmed his Lutheran faith at Waldeck Lutheran Church in Waldeck. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1965. Gilbert was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Houston and retired from National Flame and Forge in Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lorene Pietsch; his brother, Leslie Pietsch and three brothers-in-law, Weldon Markert, Sidney Grebe and Wesley Ott. Gilbert is survived by his two sisters, Della Mae Markert of Ledbetter and Beatrice Ott of Houston; his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Jeanet Pietsch of Houston; two nephews, Steve Markert and Jeff Pietsch and his wife, Heather; three nieces, Lisa Gunawan and her husband, Win, Angie Hasness and her husband, Dave and Kimberly Morgan and her husband, Billy; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Dawson Pietsch, Jeff Pietsch, Ian Hasness, Cameron Beitler, Leonard Lehman and Willie Wagner. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one’s choice. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings is in charge of arrangements.
