Annastina “Tina” Ida Louise Marek

Annastina “Tina” Ida Louise Marek, 93, of Industry, died on Friday, March 10, in Brenham.

Tina was born in Frelsburg on Dec. 10, 1923, the daughter of the late Johanna George Aschenbeck and Fredrick Aschenbeck. She married the late H. W. “Dickie” Marek on June 15, 1944 in Frelsburg.

Tina was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg all of her life, after being baptized there as an infant. She enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, playing dominos, and most importantly, spending time with relatives, friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tina worked in retail sales for over 40 years, almost 25 of which were spent at the Welcome Store, where she made many friends.

She is survived by three sons: Dennie Marek and special friend Barbara Kalkhake; Barnell Marek, and wife Susie; Darrell Marek and wife Jane, all of Industry; sister, Alma Schmidt, of Haw Creek; seven grandchildren: Cindy Marek Kissel and special friend Jimmy Seibert; Denise Plumb and husband Stephen; Kimberly Marek Pieper and fiance’ Randy Taylor; Chris Marek and wife Rachel; Angela Kokenes and husband, Dustin; Danielle Nelson, and husband, Daron; Lyndell Woodruff and husband Al; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dickie Marek; daughter in law, Janell “Tiny” Marek; great grandchild, Hudson Marek; six brothers and sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 13 from 12 to 7 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel in Industry.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Frelsburg, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14.

Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Frelsburg.
