Fitzpatrick, Landreth Headed For Promotions Within LGISD

Here’s a round-up of some of the highlights from the March meeting of the La Grange ISD School Board, held Monday:  

School Bond Election

The school board has entered into an agreement with the Fayette County Elections Administrator for election services to be administered for the LGISD school bond election to be held on May 6 of this year. Early voting will take place April 24-May 2 at the LGISD administration building located at 560 North Monroe, La Grange, Tex. Election day polling place will be at the La Grange City Hall, 155 East Colorado St., La Grange, Tex. 

Resignations, New Hires

The board received resignations from the following personnel: Anna Holland, athletic trainer, effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year; Christyna Fitzpatrick, educational aide, effective at the end of March; and Linda Srubar, special education office CRSSA secretary (retiree), effective June 22. 

The board moved to extend a probationary professional contracts to: Holly Horton to serve as an educational diagnostician on behalf of the Colorado River SSA for the 2017-18 school year; Diana Fitzpatrick as the business/finance director for LGISD effective June 5; and Shelly Landreth as the curriculum director for LGISD effective for the 2017-18 school year. 

Brady Bippert was also approved to begin full time employment at the Hermes/Intermediate campus as an instructional support-educational aide effective March 20. 

Reports

Superintendent Bill Wagner reported that enrollment is holding steady. There are currently 1977 students enrolled in LGISD, down by only 1.42 percent from the end of year totals of the 2015-16 school year. 

He stated that members of the bond steering committee were making presentations to various civic organizations in town prior to the vote.
