Cushing Prevails in Fayetteville Mayor Race

For the first time in 20 years, Fayetteville will have a new mayor – and it’s going to be Stephen Cushing.

He won a  significant victory over Liz Fritsch Saturday, garnering 103 votes to her 41. Both were running to replace longtime Fayetteville mayor Ronnie Pflughaupt, who was not seeking re-election.

“I was a little surprised by the size of the result,” Cushing said of his victory. “ I thought it would be closer.”
