Pitman Cemetery Holds Memorial Service

On Sunday there was a nice crowd that gathered to celebrate the lives of those who have passed on before us and to pay homage to our shared past. Brother Bubba Fowler of the Cowboy Church brought the message for the afternoon. There were a few first time attendees and many who have attended the first Sunday in May services for years. There was a great age range and many took advantage to wonder among the headstones and soak in the history of the area in those who are laid to rest there.

An offering, towards the care and upkeep of the cemetery was taken up. The offering exceeded two thousand dollars. This will help pay for the cleanup and other maintenance items to keep the cemetery in the best condition possible and to maintain the historical integrity. The next gathering in Pitman will be the semiannual business meeting on the second Saturday in October.

Following the memorial service in the chapel on the cemetery grounds, a reception for those gathered. Everyone got a chance to visit and catch up on what has been happening since they last touched base. Coffee, lemonade and cold water were served along with cake, cookies and pie.
