Mark Allen Lincke
Mark Allen Lincke passed away on May 31, 2017 while on a trip in Colorado celebrating his anniversary. He was born on July 30, 1960 in La Grange to Allyne and Delton Lincke. He is survived by his wife, Nathalie Chomel, his three daughters, Emily, Abbey, and Grace, and his ex-wife Melissa Jakes Lincke. His other survivors include his sister Debra Lincke Porter, her daughter Maria, engaged to Chris Gullickson, and her son, Maxim. Mark is also survived by his brother Gary Lincke of La Grange, his wife, Gale, and their son, John, who is married to Christa with their sons, Keoni and Nathan. He treasured his time with his Aunt Evelyn Kieke and her family as well as his numerous cousins. Mark’s relatives and friends live all over the world. Mark was first and foremost a family man and a man of faith. He dealt with life with a balance of humor and strength. His friends remember him as loyal and his coworkers as dedicated. He knew something about most things and was always interested in learning more. He was thoughtful, kind, caring, and a truly a good man. Mark grew up in La Grange and played the saxophone at La Grange High School, graduating in 1978. He attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham where he received an Associate in Arts in Engineering. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and transferred to Austin Community College where he received an Associate of Applied Science in Electronic and Communications Engineering Technology. Mark worked at several coal power plants in La Grange; Austin; Craig, Colorado; and Centralia, Washington as a Control and Process Electrical Technician, Specialist and Supervisor. His last position was a Process Control Technician for Arkema in Clear Lake City. In his heart, Mark was an astronomer. He indulged his passion of star-gazing by hosting astronomy nights with his telescopes. Mark even joined an astronomer’s club in Houston in 2016. Mark’s daughters Emily and Abbey attend the University of Houston, and his youngest daughter, Grace, will be a junior at James E. Taylor High School in Katy. Mark was an avid supporter of the girls’ school activities, regularly attending band concerts and school football games alike (and never failing to find a way to embarrass his daughters). On April 16, 2015 Mark married Nathalie Chomel in Katy. Mark and Nathalie met at a church event and he subsequently Facebook “stalked” her. Nathalie, Mark, and his three daughters moved to Katy, making a home with their beloved dog, three cats, and hamster (aka. varmint). Besides his family and friends, Mark’s other loves included trains, Bigfoot (yes, he DOES exist!), sci-fi novels, IPA beer, “mud bugs”, fried chicken (and anything else fried), music (a tradition he passed on to his girls) and the television show “Modern Family” (which he could binge watch endlessly). Mark lived in Texas for 41 years before moving to Colorado, Washington (state) and then back to Texas. Mark loved the outdoors, often remarking how at peace he felt when he visited the mountains. Mark’s amazing sense of humor and passion to make others laugh never failed to lift spirits of those surrounding him. Mark’s family knows he is in Heaven with his mother, father and other relatives who passed before him, as well as his cat, Mackey, and his dog, Blizzard. Family and friends are invited to gather at The Living Word Lutheran Church on 3700 S. Mason Rd. in Katy on June 17 at 1 p.m. for a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Memorial Fund for Mark Lincke. Donations may be made in the form of cash or checks at the Memorial Service or the reception.
