Rainosek

Eleanora Julia (Belota) Rainosek was born in Plum on Feb. 16, 1925 to parents Joe and Frances (Sulik) Belota. She died in Houston on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 92, with her children by her side. Eleanora is survived by sisters Martha (Belota) Kainer of Flatonia, Lillian (Belota) Berger of Houston, and brother Robert Belota and sister-in-law Georgie Belota of Plum. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Edwin Belota and Joe Belota, sister Annie (Belota) Vasek, brothers-in-law Leon Kainer, Jack Vasek, Don Berger and sister-in-law Audrey Belota. Eleanora was the last surviving member of Anton and Filomena Rainosek’s thirteen children and their spouses. Eleanora’s immediate family includes son Ronald Rainosek and wife Mary of Lewisville, their daughter Katherine and husband Matt Taylor and their children Ella and Jack of Lewisville, and their son Randall Rainosek of Manhattan, New York; son Robert Rainosek of Belton; daughters Diane Rainosek of Austin, and Jerilyn Rainosek of Austin, and her daughter Jazmyne Crunk and husband Steve Pristin of Los Angeles, Calif. Eleanora graduated from La Grange High School in 1943 and was married at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum on July 16, 1945 to Jerome C. “JC” Rainosek of Hostyn, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1994. They took up residence in St. Petersburg, Fla. where JC was stationed with the Merchant Marines. After his tour of duty, they returned to Fayette County and eventually raised their family in Schulenburg. In 1969, Eleanora and JC moved to Houston where she took a job in the cafeteria at Spring Woods High School and later worked for Texas Automatic Foods until retirement. Eleanora loved retirement and would often tell her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how nice it was to have the time to spend with them. In retirement, Eleanora was an active volunteer at Memorial City Hospital and St. Jerome Catholic Church Food Pantry, and she also participated in the senior citizen group at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Her curiosity and adventurous spirit took her to many places including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, England, Austria, the Netherlands and Mexico, but most of all she enjoyed her visits to the Czech Republic. She not only traveled to Prague, but also visited her grandmother’s hometown of Hovezi and the surrounding communities of Vsetin, Radhost, Belotin, Rajnochavice and Hostyn where she made it a point to climb the 240 steps to the hilltop church to light a candle and pray. She enjoyed meeting and chatting in Czech with the people in the small communities who were amazed at this Texas woman’s ability to speak their language. In recent years, Eleanora cherished many of the simple things in life, such as Sunday car rides in the country, especially back to Fayette County, playing dominoes, solving the daily word “Jumble” puzzle in the newspaper, walking on the beach, tending to her plants, and sitting on her backyard swing phoning family and friends to chat, visit, share laughs and words of wisdom. Eleanora never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand. Most recently she helped a 10-year-old practice his English and reading skills to help his performance in school. Mid-morning she could always be found in her favorite chair praying the rosary with Mother Angelica on TV. Eleanora was a strong woman with a big heart. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her. A visitation service was held at Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Mass and burial were at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Cemetery in Hostyn on Friday, June 16, 2017 with Father Daniel P. Kahlich as Celebrant. Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston was in charge of arrangements.
