Lydia “Billie” J. (McFarland) Dennis

Lydia “Billie” J. (McFarland) Dennis, 87, of Fayetteville, died Monday, July 31, 2017. Lydia was born in Jefferson on Oct. 6, 1929, the daughter of William A. and Leo L. (Leroy) McFarland. She married Larry Lee Dennis on Oct. 6, 1945 in Rockwall. She worked as an assistant director of housekeeping for The Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for 30 years. Lydia enjoyed crafting, puzzles, gardening, straight dominoes, hand and foot card, chicken foot, Mexican train and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by son, James Robert Dennis and wife, Tina of Yuma, Ariz.; daughter, Linda J. Dennis of Gainesville; son, John H. Dennis and fiancé, Martha Jane Philipp of Fayetteville; grandchildren: James Robert Dennis Jr; Brian Dennis and wife, Julie; Kimberly Dennis; Gregory Dennis and wife, Lauren; Jennifer Hill; two greatgrandchildren: Greg Dennis and Marshall Dennis; sons of Martha Philipp: Spencer and Ben; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry; grandson, Chris Gist; five brothers: Paul, Bill, Charlie, Raymond, Waymond McFarland; one sister, Leila Heise. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel, 207 N. Live Oak, in Fayetteville. Funeral Services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Rusk in Fayetteville, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017. Burial followed at Fayetteville City Cemetery.
