Gloria Mae (Ephraim) Gersch, 92, of Winchester, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017. Gloria was born in Winchester on Jan. 25, 1925, the daughter of Levine and Hulda (Schmidt) Ephraim. She married Theobald “Ted” Walter Gersch on Dec. 26, 1943 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. She was a member of St. Michael’s Ladies Aid, St. Michael’s Choir and the Winchester Home Demonstration Club. Gloria’s many hobbies included sewing, quilting, coloring, cooking and baking. She enjoyed dancing and playing solitaire and dominoes. Gloria loved visiting with family and friends sharing her many stories of Winchester’s days gone by. She had a quick smile for any and all she met. She is survived by daughter, Mary Ann Kocurek and husband, John, of Houston; son, Sherwood Gersch and wife, Rhoda; daughter, Irma Gersch; and son, Daniel Gersch all of Winchester; two daughters-in-law: Donna Gersch of Winchester and Ginny Gersch of Georgetown; brother, James Ephraim and wife, Lera, of Katy; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theobald; two sons: Walter and Paul Gersch; and two granddaughters: Theresa Menem and Michelle Mudd. Visitation was held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 700 Frio St. in Winchester, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. Burial followed at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department, Winchester City Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.
