Proske
Roland Albert Proske, 77, of Schulenburg, peacefully died Aug. 12, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. Proske was born on Sept. 14, 1939, to Elsie (Schoenfeld) and Alfred Proske of Moulton. He married Patricia Rohan of Cuero on Oct. 19, 1963, and together they raised two children, Jeff and Rhonda. After living in Killeen and proudly serving in the Air Force Reserves, Proske and his wife moved to Houston. There, he learned and excelled in the printing business at Ranger Insurance. In 1978, Proske moved to Schulenburg where he and family members founded Schulenburg Printing and Office Supplies. Proske was involved in numerous community organizations. He was a member of the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years, and he served as Fire Chief from 1984 to 1989. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus, the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce, the Schulenburg Festival Association, and the Lions Club. In addition, he was a member of the Shorthorn Booster Club, serving as president for a term. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat, their children Jeff Proske and wife Terry of Schulenburg and Rhonda Miethand husband Stephen of Rockport, four grandchildren: Doran and Rylee Proske and Blake and Evan Mieth; one brother, Adolph (Anita) Proske of La- Grange, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and half brother Fred Grauke, all of Moulton. Services will be held as follows: American Legion and Fire Department Memorial Services will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Rosary to follow on Wednesday, Aug. 16; funeral at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17. All services will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Internment will occur at the St. Rose cemetery.
