Glenn Ray Behrens

Glenn Ray Behrens, 84, of La Grange, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017. Glenn was born in Sand, Texas on Dec. 27, 1932, the son of Martin and Eleanora Johanna (Koenig). He married Velma Jean (Weiser) Behrens on Aug. 31, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin. Glenn and Velma lived in the same home since the day they were married. He worked as a Route Salesman at Austin Baking Company for 33 years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church La Grange. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and truly loved working in his garden. Glenn is survived by his son, Marcus Behrens and wife, Debbie, of La Grange; three grandchildren: Daniel Behrens and wife, Emily; Chris Behrens and wife, Nikki; and Amanda Behrens; four great-grandchildren: Walker, Kameron, Malachi, and Hailey Behrens. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifton Behrens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, H.P. and Sidonia Weiser. Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 with Pastor Bill Qualman officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour, or a charity of one’s choice.
