Evening Flood Update - 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28
The Colorado River level in La Grange was 53.68 feet at 6 p.m., down from a high of 54.22 feet at 1:40 p.m.
It was the third highest crest on record and the highest in over a century.
Highlights from tonight's La Grange city council meeting:
Disaster declaration has been extended for 30 days. People in three homes refused to evacuate Sunday and had to be rescued by boat later. Only two of city's seven water wells are operational so boil water notice continues due to system pressure loss.
Flooded homes will probably not be accessible until Wednesday when water drops low enough. The City is working to get electric power on the Bluff restored. State and federal aid may be slow in coming because of the widespread disasters all over state.
Look for updates in the morning.
