Tuesday Aftermath of the Harvey Flood in La Grange
La Grange recieved 28 inches of rain as the remnants of Hurricane Harvey passed across the area this weekend. All that rain caused the third highest crest of the Coloroado River on record, flooding low-lying areas of La Grange. Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Janet Carrigan estimated 500 buildings had been affected by the flooding. Many of those may have been damaged beyond repair, she said. The City of La Grange and Fayette County is asking the public to stay out of the flood-affected areas while authorities go door-to-door to make sure its safe for people to return. In the meantime, here are a few images of the damage around town.
