A Visit to the School

Visiting my granddaughter for lunch at school is a whole new experience these days.

There was a time, not very long ago that a parent (or grandparent) could call ahead and then arrive at the appointed lunch time, walk into the cafeteria and have lunch with his or her grandchild.

That is not the case anymore. Because of the multiple events involving the safety (or lack thereof) of the students in the schools, La Grange ISD and many other schools around the country have implemented a much stricter policy for visiting the campus. I was aware of this policy, but I have now experienced it firsthand.

I wasn’t actually at the school to eat with my granddaughter, but was there to administer medication to her and catching her in the cafeteria was the least disruptive to the school day. The reason for the visit, however, doesn’t change the procedure for checking in.
