Former Flatonia Police Chief Noak Indicted for Gun Theft

Former Flatonia Police Chief Mike Noak has been indicted for theft of a firearm by a public servant. A Fayette County Grand Jury returned the indictment on Thursday, Sept. 21.

On June 5, about six months after Noak resigned as police chief, a team of law enforcement including Flatonia Police and Texas Ranger searched the former chief’s home following an investigation into a gun that was missing from police evidence. The officers found the pistol during the search.

District attorney Peggy Supak said the gun had been used in a suicide.

“When there is a gun used in a suicide, we hold it in evidence and either return it to the family, if they want it, or we get an order to destroy it,” Supak said. “Neither one of those things happened.”
