Lost Car Leads to Meth Arrest at the Antiques Show
Two women from the Brownwood area were arrested for meth at the Round Top and Warrenton antiques show after one asked a sheriff’s deputy for help finding her car.
According to a report from Sheriff Keith Korenek, Deputy Michael Otten was assisting a woman who had lost her car around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. The report said the woman borrowed her car to a friend who was working at a venue on SH 237 near Hartfield Road, between Round Top and Warrenton.
Deputies Hunter Embesi and C.J. Lehmann arrived to assist. They eventually located the car, and the friend returned the keys. The deputies noticed the friend remove something from the car and walk away.
“Indicators from both females indicated possible drug activity, and consent to search the vehicle was given,” the report said.
The deputies located an eyeglass container with hypodermic needles and a broken spoon inside. The report said the spoon tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputies also found several small bags on one of the females. The bags contained a white crystal substance that tested positive for meth.
Deputies arrested both females, 53-year-old Loretta Lynn Ferguson of Early and 57-year-old Rebecca Sue Mills of Brownwood. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.
