Damian John Janacek

Damian John Janacek, 60, of Schulenburg, died Oct. 8, 2017, after his hard fought battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He was born on March 4, 1957, to Emil and Edna (Gassmann) Janacek in Weimar. Damian loved his family and especially being silly, playing and entertaining his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He loved watching westerns and wrestling, playing dominoes, listening to polka/waltz music and relaxing with a cold one. He enjoyed joking around and making people happy. Damian was a kid at heart. From the time he started walking, he loved driving his trucks and the different sounds made by different engines. This led to a 30-year career working aboard and driving a truck in the sanitation department for the Cities of La Grange and Schulenburg respectively, from which he retired in May, 2017. He is survived by his wife Yvette; step-children Michael Garvin; Katrina Kurtz (Tyson); grandchildren Devan Simpson and Jaxon Kurtz; sisters and brothers-in-law Octavia Redding (Glen), Kathleen Kolb (Jeff), Beta Fox (Lee), Colleen Green, Carelie Ahlschlager (Clarence), Lana Ondrusek (Larry), Lora Petty (Stanley); one brother and sister-in-law, Cosmas “CJ” Janacek (Joy); father-in-law Raymond Rolllins, Sr.; brothers-in-law and wife Raymond Rollins, Jr. and Alan Rollins (Kim); sistersin- law and husbands Mary Thompson (Benny), Jane Segura (Buddy), Aggie Johnson (Les); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-inlaw Minnie Rollins. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to The Texas Ramp Project for building the wheel chair ramp and to Hospice Brazos Valley for their care of our loved one.
