Norma J. Medford
Norma J. Medford, 89, of Rankin, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in Odessa at the Odessa Regional Hospital. Norma was born on Oct. 6, 1928 in O’Donnell to parents William Edgar Frey and Bernice Arlene (Burleson) Frey. Her siblings were Wilma Janell (Frey) Price, Bennie Eugene Frey, Nelva Joyce (Frey) Kilmer, and Glenda Ruth (Frey) Price. Norma was married to William Jasper (Corky) Hollingsworth on April 14, 1949. They had two sons, Larry and Jerry Hollingsworth. She graduated from Levelland High. Norma worked for Pro-Log as a secretary. Her hobbies included oil painting, quilting, and floral arrangement. Norma was a lifelong Baptist. Norma loved clothes and always dressed beautifully. She chose her attire with style and did much of her own sewing. As a young girl growing up, Norma loved hats, and any time the sisters were all shopping, their trip was side tracked to the hat rack area and Norma had to model each and every one. As you can tell, Norma began her love of fashion at a very young age. If you knew Norma, you always got a smile and a hug. Before she left your presence, she knew your children’s names and all their ages. Norma was very proud of her time as a secretary at Pro-Log. She was instrumental in the day to day operations and retired with regret when she and Albert married and moved to La Grange to begin their new life. Norma enjoyed being close to her sisters in La Grange and all the family. She and Al found a home church with many dear friends at Second Baptist Church. She was church secretary for a time and helped at the Second Chance Emporium. She is survived by her husband, Al Medford; son Larry Hollingsworth and his wife Roberta, Jerry Hollingsworth and his wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Scott, Robert, Terry, Joey and Jennifer; greatgrandchildren, Brittany, Carter, Chase, Collin, Amber, Sean, and Liam. Sister Glenda Ruth Price and her husband Tommy, as well as six nieces and nephews and numerous other family. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Rankin with Reverend Troy Strickland officiating. Burial followed in the Rankin Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Rankin. Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
