Leyendecker

Dorothy Leyendecker, 70, died Oct. 19, 2017 in Columbus. She was born on Jan. 11, 1947 to Paul and Meta Wiecker Schomberg in Brenham. She grew up on a farm near Welcome, learning to drive a tractor and pickup at an early age for she was an only child. Her mother did manage to teach her to cook and sew. She was active in all aspects of 4-H at Welcome, Austin County, District and State. Also, active and served as an officer in the Luther League, FHA, and 4-H. Dorothy is survived by immediate family members, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Meta Schomberg, her husband, Crockett Leyendecker, and her stepson, Karl Leyendecker. Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus. In her memory, memorials are suggested to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Bluebell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833. Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
