Flatonia Woman Arrested for Child Endangerment
Flatonia Police arrested a local woman on child endangerment and drug charges Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Flatonia Police Chief Perry Kram said the arrest stems from a two-week-long investigation. The investigation began with a 911 call on Nov. 1 which resulted in police placing an adolescent child in protective custody, Kram said. Child Protective Services began their own investigation, he added, and the child has been in state custody ever since.
Last Wednesday, police obtained a warrant and arrested 54-year-old Laura Ann Evans of Flatonia at her home in the 400 block of North Penn Street. The warrant charged her with Abandoning or Endangering a Child-Criminal Negligence, a state jail felony. During the arrest, Kram said officers conducted a pat-down search of Evans and found several white tablets believed to be codeine and acetaminophen. The officers subsequently charged her with possession of a controlled substance.
Officers booked Evans into the Fayette County Jail at 2:32 p.m. Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Randy Albers magistrated Evans. She was released around 4 p.m. on a personal recognizance bond with total bail set at $7,500 if she does not appear in court.
