Barbara Ann (Oppermann) Fulton

Barbara Ann (Oppermann) Fulton, 74, of Bastrop, (formerly of La Grange) died on Monday, November 27, 2017, following a short yet courageous battle with aggressive brain cancer. Barbara was born in La Grange on Jan. 31, 1943, the daughter of Arthur and Glennie (Eilers) Oppermann. Barbara was a member of Haynie Chapel United Methodist Church in Garfield. She was a selfless person always putting others needs before her own. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, quilting with her mother, making special handmade items for her family and friends, as well as gardening, cooking and baking. She was a courageous woman who always stood firm in her faith. She is survived by her mother, Glennie Eilers Oppermann; and family: Michelle and Scott Martin of La Grange; David Dockery and Dawn Sand; Amanda, Saxon Brooks and Ava Dittert, of College Station; Ryan and Breann Dockery, of Vancouver, Wash.; Tyler and Charity Dockery and Zoey Stahl, of College Station; Mike, Linda and Aime Pitman; Elaine and Troy Guard; Joseph and Heather Massa; Diane and Brian Gonzales, Zachary, Brittney and Hayden; and special friend, Joy Banks. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Oppermann; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Delores Oppermann; niece, Melissa Dockery; and the love of her life, Jack Pittman. Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Quilting Group at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
