Tumis

Valeria L. Tumis, 89, of Houston, died Dec. 29, 2017. She was born in Schulenburg on Sept. 24, 1928 to her parents Joe E. Anders and Alouise Blaschke. She married Allen J. Tumis of Ammannsville in 1953. They were married for 55 years. Valeria was a housewife/ homemaker, and she and Allen had two children. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and was a member of The Polka Lovers Klub of America since February 1989. She and her husband had a passion for Polka dancing for many years. She enjoyed quilting, and donating the quilts for the local church bazaars. She also enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved playing bingo, and on many occasions went on trips to the casinos in Louisiana. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Rodriguez (Ruben) of Spring, and a son Larry Tumis (Sheryl) of Katy. Visitation was held at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Services and interment began at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Deacon Charles Conant, with a reception that followed at the Forest Park Funeral Home Event Center.
