Lillie Josephine (Matthijetz) Menge, 95, of La Grange, died on March 20, 2018. Lillie was born in Winchester on Feb. 1, 1923, the daughter of Carl August and Anna (Jakobeit) Matthijetz. She married Wesley Diller on July 20, 2002 in La Grange. Lillie worked as a receptionist for Guadalupe Valley Telephone in Spring Branch for 30 years and she also worked for Sears in Houston and Galveston. After moving to La Grange, she volunteered for Second Chance where she enjoyed working and displaying clothing. She enjoyed dancing, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling and loved cooking in the kitchen with her “Sista’s”. She also loved spending time with her dog, Slider. Lillie was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. She is survived by her husband, Wesley Diller; two sisters: Rose Marie Kilian of Winchester and Edna Kessel of La Grange and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roy Menge; one sister, Erna Cox; four brothers: Hugo, Carl, Wilbert and Max Matthijetz. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 12 to 7 p.m. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery in Winchester.
