Henry John Guthmann, 90, of New Ulm, died March 16, 2018 in Columbus. He was born on March 14, 1928 to Emil and Valarie (Wavra) Guthmann in Frelsburg. On Nov. 25, 1951 he married Mary Ann Blazek. Henry was a retired truck driver and rancher. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Cat Spring Agriculture Society, New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department, and SPJST Lodge 1 in Fayetteville. Henry is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Guthmann of New Ulm; daughters, Brenda Minarcik and husband Alvin of Fayetteville, and Wanda Faldyn and husband Arthur of Lone Oak; sons, Gary Guthmann and wife Dottie of Bellville, and Warren Guthmann and wife Betty of Columbus; sister, Elvera Orsak and husband Edward of Pearland; 11 grandchildren, Cheryl Junek, Chad Guthmann, Jennifer Colligan, Melissa Weynand, Kimberly Gentry, John Minarcik, Damon Faldyn, Shawn Faldyn, Grant Guthmann, Kelsey Guthmann, and Matthew Guthmann; 10 great grandchildren, Gage Colligan, Annabelle Colligan, Clara Weynand, Emery Weynand, Liam Gentry, Jaydon Faldyn, Hailey Faldyn, Harper Faldyn, Noah Faldyn, and Lynden Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Valarie (Wavra) Guthmann, his sister, LaVene Farek and husband Benny, and his brother, Frank Lesikar and wife Ottilia. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus; and visitation on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Glenn Hohlt officiating. Burial took place in New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm. Pallbearers were Chad Guthmann, John Minarcik, Damon Faldyn, Shawn Faldyn, Grant Guthmann, and Matthew Guthmann. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters and great grandchildren.
