New to Kochkäse

There were only a handful of vendors at the La Grange farmers’ market on a dreary Saturday morning, but my appetite was curious so I stopped at the courthouse square to take a look. Niki stayed in the car and scoffed a bit when I returned with a $4 container of cooked cheese with caraway seeds (locally known as the German delicacy Kochkäse) and a perfume sized $8 jar of mango salsa. No doubt HEB would have had a commercially packaged salsa at half the price and twice the size, but the culinary blind date and the idea of buying as local as local gets were rationale enough to abandon thrift and hope for the best
