Evelyn Alvina Klimek Lincke (Granny) passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in Victoria on March 26, 2018. Evelyn was born in Fayetteville on Aug. 28, 1930 to Albina Marek Klimek and Frank Klimek. She was raised on her parent’s farm along the Cummins Creek along with two sisters and two brothers. She grew up during the Great Depression helping with the farm chores including milking the cows, tending the livestock, picking cotton and shucking corn. Once, while in the fields, she was bitten by a copperhead snake and was lucky to survive. Evelyn attended St. John’s Parish School and County Line School. While attending a dance, she met the love of her life, Lloyd Allen Lincke. Evelyn said he was the “best looking” man in Fayette County. Lloyd soon enlisted in the Army was sent to Japan to fight in the Korean War. While waiting for Lloyd to return, Evelyn left the farm and moved to Houston, sharing a garage apartment with her cousins Marian Klimek Albers and Lorain Klimek Hrachovy. She found a job at Houston Power & Light Company. After two years of service, Lloyd returned to Fayetteville to marry Evelyn at the original St. John’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville on April 12, 1953. They made their home in Spring Branch, Houston, Texas and Evelyn stayed home to raise their three children while Lloyd found work at May Aluminum. In 1961, May Aluminum (later Alcoa) relocated to El Campo where Lloyd and Evelyn lived the rest of their lives. In 1970, after the children were old enough to care for themselves, Evelyn decided to return to work. She worked in the shipping department of Isaacson-Carrico for 20 years. Evelyn can be described as a brave, talented, hardworking and caring Czech woman. Brave, because she was widowed at age 56, when Lloyd lost his life to cancer in 1987 living alone for 31 years and taking care of their home. She was also a breast cancer survivor. Talented, because she was a fabulous cook, baker, she could sew, crochet, paint, wood work, square dance, polka dance, fish, play “42 Dominoes” like a pro and speak the Czech language. Hardworking, because after Lloyd passed, she kept a full time job while caring for a home, mowing the yard, keeping a vegetable garden and never complaining about all the work. Evelyn loved her Czech heritage and loved her Catholic faith. She attended St. Phillip’s Catholic Church in El Campo for 57 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, KJZT, and former member of the Christian Squares. She also loved to travel and especially loved to play the slot machines at the casinos with her grandson Gabe. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Lloyd, brother Frank Klimek, twin brother Edwin (Shamrock) Klimek, and sisters Dorothy Chovanec and Vlasta Mascheck. She is survived by her children Mark Lincke, Denise Kofron and husband Gary, Lori Dresner and husband Jerry. Also, her adoring grandchildren Joshua Gabe Kofron, Conrad Kofron and wife Hilary, Tyler Dresner and wife Sara, Chelsy Sweat and husband Tyler along with her great grandchildren, Scarlet and August Dresner, Wyatt and Hayden Sweat and Fletcher Lloyd Kofron.
