Shirley McKeown

Funeral services for Shirley McKeown, 82, of Giddings, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Giddings with Pastor Steve Knott and Tim Pitts officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Shirley LaNelle Dement McKeown traveled on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She left us peacefully after a brief illness, with her daughters at her side. Shirley was 82 years of age. Born in Smithville to Gilbert and Myrtle (Jackson) Dement on May 8, 1935. Shirley attended school in Smithville until High School, when she met her sweetheart and life partner Ronnie Lee McKeown of Giddings, Texas. They married very young and Shirley graduated from Giddings High School. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Deborah and Michael Horn of Midland, and Nancy McKeown of Giddings; son, Mark L. McKeown of Tompkinsville, Ky.; granddaughter, Amanda McCue (Brian) and great-granddaughter, Bekah McCue both of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandsons, Joshua Van Cleave of Giddings and Sean Booth of Giddings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
