Floyd Henry Plueckhahn
Floyd Henry Plueckhahn, 86, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 24, 2018. Floyd was born on Feb. 25, 1932 on their family farm near Winedale. After graduating high school, he enrolled at Texas A&M, but put his education on hold and enlisted in the US Navy after the start of the Korean War and became an anti-aircraft gunner aboard the USS Los Angeles. After the war, Floyd moved to Austin and graduated from The University of Texas. Floyd worked in the insurance industry and retired from the State Board of Insurance 25 years ago. Floyd is deeply missed by his wife, Nettie; daughter, Suzanne Bergmann and husband Art; son, Blake and his wife Connie; step-daughters, Jennifer Rex, Pam Harris and husband Shawn; as well as six grandchildren, Alison, Regan, Caroline, Andrew, Jacqueline and Pearson. A graveside service will be held on May 12 at 11 a.m. at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive in Austin. Instead of flowers, if able, dedicate a day of fishing in his memory.
