Car Seat Event a Success

Fayette County AgriLife teamed with ten other agencies and non-profits to put on a car seat checkup event on Tuesday, April 10.

The event took place in the parking lot of La Grange Walmart. Parents were invited to drive up to one of the inspection stations for a free checkup of their child safety seats. Over a dozen volunteers and certified car seat technicians inspected 63 vehicles for proper child restraints. Organizers distributed 40 new child safety seats, free of charge, to parents who did not have seats or whose seats were outdated or broken.

Sally Garrett and Jennifer Boening of Fayette County AgriLife organized the event. Bev Kellner, a passenger safety program manager with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, oversaw the inspections.
