Leslie Divin
Leslie Divin of Sugar Land died April 14, 2018. He was born on Oct. 11, 1928 in Ellinger to Emil and Julia Kocian Divin. He graduated from La Grange High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as a Corporal in the Korean War. He took great pride in knowing that all six men in his family proudly served their country. Leslie married the love of his life, Dolores Kovar on June 3, 1957. They had one daughter, Ann, who was his rock, confidant, and caregiver. Leslie worked for May Aluminum in Houston then transferred to El Campo. Leslie enjoyed family gatherings and celebrating all the joys of life. He involved himself in every detail of Clay and Clair’s lives. He supported, respected, and loved them unconditionally. Leslie was a man of deep faith who loved his family and served his country proudly. He possessed the ability to make everyone around him happy and always brought life to any situation with his great sense of humor. Leslie is survived by his daughter Ann and husband Gregory, and his grandchildren Clayton and Clair Campbell; sister-in-laws Bernice Kollaja and Martha Kovar; bother-in-law Alfred Kovar and wife Ruby. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dolores; brothers Arnold, Harry, Walter, and Bennie Divin. Visitation was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Philip Catholic Church in El Campo with a Rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. Funeral Mass followed at 2 p.m. with Rev. Oscar Amo officiating. Entombment under the auspices of the American Legion 251 followed at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Clayton Campbell, James Divin, Mark Kovar, Daniel Kollaja, Leroy Richter, and Robert Upchurch. Honorary pallbearers David and Robert Divin. Donations may be made to St. Philip School or Church in El Campo.
