Rose Ann (Hrachovy)

Rose Ann (Hrachovy) Marek, 81, of Schulenburg (formerly of Houston) died Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Rose was born in La Grange (Hostyn) on March 13, 1937, the daughter of John and Annie (Dusek) Hrachovy. She married John Otis Marek on April 4, 1959 in Hostyn. Rose grew up on the farm with her parents and three brothers. She was a babysitter for 20 years caring for the children whom she grew fond of. Her many hobbies included collecting porcelain items and making homemade crafts. She loved plants and flowers. She was a long-time member of K.J.Z.T. Society No. 125 in Houston. She is survived by her son, John Leon Marek of Santa Fe, Texas; brother, Eugene Hrachovy of La Grange (Hostyn); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Barry Honeycutt of Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Leon Hrachovy and Laddie Hrachovy; and infant brother, Alois Hrachovy. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Burial will follow at the Hostyn Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, La Grange, Texas 78945.
