Alois “Louis” Albin Mechura, 80, of Flatonia, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Louis was born in Industry on May 3, 1937, the son of Leroy and Agnes Thersa (Vasicek) Mechura. He married Judith Snipe on Jan. 28, 1966 in Houston. Louis served his country in the U.S. Army in the 1st Airborne Division. He was employed as a sheet rock finisher with various drywall companies. He was a hard worker working several jobs at a time. His greatest enjoyment was visiting with family and friends, playing table games of roulette and craps, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Judith, of 52 years; seven children: Kay Frances Mechura, Marilyn Mechura, Jhon Thomas Anderson, Lisa Gail Anderson, Betty Lynn Brower, Edward Lee Mechura and Christopher Alois Mechura; four sisters: Marcella Baker and husband, Bill; Darlene Smith and husband, Carlton Brown; Donna Smith and husband, Larry Hill; Linda Suzanne Smith and husband, Steve Hessle; brother, Bill Smith; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Lydia Mechura; and step father, William Smith. Visitation was held on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services followed beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial at the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.  Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
