Stamport

Funeral services for John “Johnny” Wayne Stamport, 70, of Loebau were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau with Rev. Garrett Smith officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, followed in the church cemetery. John “Johnny” Stamport was born on July 2, 1947 to Wheeler and Gladys (Hamilton) Stamport at his home in Lexington. Johnny was drafted in 1968 into the Army and served a year in Vietnam. Upon his return, he was united in marriage to Nellie Jean Beisert on June 13, 1969 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. Johnny died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan following a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Gladys Stamport; his wife, Nellie Stamport; father-in- law and mother-in-law, Martin and Clara Beisert; two sisters, Billy Ann Stamport and Leona Stamport; two brothers, William “Buddy” Stamport and Jim Stamport. Johnny is survived by his two children, Matthew Stamport and his wife, Stacey of Lexington and Courtney Wagner and her husband, Richard of Northrup; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; brother, Charlie Stamport and his wife, Shirley of Lexington; two sisters, Barbara Stamport of Lexington and Dee Stamport of Arkansas; six brothers- in-law and four sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
