Rubie Galipp

Funeral services for Rubie Galipp, 91, of Ledbetter, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Rubie Irene (Proske) Galipp was born on Nov. 6, 1926 in Lincoln, the daughter of Ernest August Proske and Ottilie Alma (Krause) Proske. She was baptized on Nov. 21, 1926 and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. Reinhard Osthoff. Her confirmation verse was Pslam 37:5, “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass”. Rubie was united in marriage to Herman John Galipp on June 20, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas by Rev. Oliver Harms. She worked for Nabisco in Houston for many years and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Rubie enjoyed quilting and taking care of her flowers. She and Herman spent many hours together working in their garden and taking care of their cattle. Rubie died the morning of Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Herman Galipp; four brothers, Carl Proske, Alfred Proske, Ewald Proske and Gilbert Proske and six sisters, Meta Smithberry, Matilda Foerster, Maria Kramer, Betty Gollar, Gussie Walker and Lillie Ruab. Rubie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Robert Coil of Round Top; her granddaughter, Heather Parker of Bastrop; her great granddaughter, Abigail “Abbie” Parker of Bastrop; her sister, Judy Stogsdill of Beasley; her sister-in-law, Clara Proske of Houston as well as several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Owen Smithberry, Gilbert Proske Jr., Jimmy Walker and Lance Coil. Honorary pallbearer will be Charlie Foerster. Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in La Grange, Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings or to the charity of one’s choice. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
