Ofelia Garza

Funeral services for Ofelia Garza, 72, of Giddings, were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the First Assembly of God in Giddings with Pastor Mike Glover officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Ofelia Salas Garza was born on Oct. 2, 1945 in Nordheim, the daughter of Edwardo and Margarita (Mindieta) Salas. She married Juan Antonio Garza on Dec. 17, 1983 in Brownfield. Juan preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2017. Ofelia was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family. She enjoyed cooking, singing and watching her grandchildren. Ofelia entered into the kingdom of God the morning of Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home in Giddings surrounded by her family and loved ones. Ofelia is survived by her eleven children, Erma and Lane Morris of Austin, Manuel Martinez of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mary and Cesar Jimenez of Austin, Melissa Galindo of Wink, David and Amy Garza of Giddings, Maurice and Sonya Martinez of Snyder, Monica and Osman Cruz of Houston, Matthew Joshua Martinez of Giddings, Hortensia “Maggie” Garza of Giddings, Joanie Garza and Vicente Segura of Giddings and Juan Antonio “Gordo” Garza of Giddings; twenty four grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Area Cancer Resource Center in Giddings, Resolutions Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
