Local Man Arrested for Deadly Conduct After Stray Bullets Strike House
A La Grange man's target practice resulted in a felony charge for deadly conduct after some stray bullets allegedly struck a neighbor's residence.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon, according to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. A 911 caller reported somone shooting a gun and bullets hitting their home on Jackson Road west of La Grange. Deputies C.J. Lehmann, Marc Bennet and Sgt. Ron Naumann of the Sheriff's Office responded to the home. The caller showed the deputies where the stray bullets hit the home. The caller also showed them the direction from where he believed the bullets came.
The deputies located 35-year-old Juan Francisco Ramirez who lived behind the property on another road. The Sheriff's report said Ramirez admitted to shooting a 9 mm pistol at an old pickup bed on his property.
"The subject did not realize the bullets were traveling through the truck bed and into another residence," the Sheriff's report stated.
The deputies arrested Ramirez for deadly conduct, a felony offense, and transported him to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
