Leslie Lee Fritsch, 89, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018. Leslie was born in Fayetteville on July 22, 1929 to Louis William and Frieda Louise (Hattermann) Fritsch. He was baptized on Dec. 8, 1929 by Pastor Carl Baer of Rutersville. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in May, 1948. On Nov. 20, 1958, he married Jerline Burger in Frelsburg by Pastor Milrog Gregor. The son of a farmer/rancher, Leslie continued the tradition. He did custom hay cutting and baling, coastal sprigging and plowing. His large hands proved he was a hard worker. He was mechanically inclined, always taking things apart and fixing them. He had the “buildit- yourself ” attitude, though he never obtained a patent for his inventions. He was a jack of all trades, constructing and repairing equipment in an improvised manner by using materials on hand. His father instilled in him the love of country music. He played the mandolin and fiddle. He would make time to go dancing almost every Saturday, until his health started declining. Then he resorted to watching the RFD-TV channel and attending the local opry to hear all those old country songs. He is survived by a son, Larry Lee Fritsch of Fayetteville; two daughters: Brenda Belota and husband, Gilbert, of Fayetteville and Mary Lou Fritsch of La Grange; three grandchildren: Jennifer Janish of Spicewood; Matt Belota and wife, Simone, of Bryan; and Mike Belota and wife, Jessica, of Spring; and three great grandchildren: Felicity, Theodore and Theron Belota of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerline, of 58 years; and infant brother, Horace. Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home in La Grange. Funeral services followed beginning at 11 a.m. Refreshments were served at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville from 12 to 2 p.m. A private burial was held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 N. Rusk St., Fayetteville, Texas 78940.
