Urban
Larry Gene Urban, formerly of La Grange was living in Weimar when he died Aug. 8, 2018. Larry was born on Feb. 23, 1954 the son of Robert and Alice Urban and was married to Sue Urban, all of whom preceded him in death. Larry was a man who would go anywhere, anytime to help out a friend, and in the process be making some humorous comment that would lighten the situation. When Larry developed severe breathing issues, he faced the problem with courage and determination. While being counseled on his medical condition, Larry told the doctors to do what’s necessary, and he promised to be the best patient that they have ever had. His positive outlook on life was such that during treatment, he made sure that if anything were to go wrong, that his heart and eyes could be used to help others. In his hometown high school of La Grange, Larry excelled in football and golf and graduated in 1972. He was the guy in the class that was always happy, and friends say that he could make anyone smile. Larry is survived by his sons, Craig and daughter-in-law, Maureen, and Steven Urban; grandchildren, Camryn, Claire, Charlie, and Weston, siblings Margie Schultz and husband Al, Doris Siedel and husband Bo, and brother Ricky Urban and his long-time best friend, Gary Diers. Larry leaves behind his beloved partner and best friend of thirteen years, Val Watson along with numerous animals at their peaceful country home on the banks of Clear Creek near Weimar. Larry became a much loved member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Bielau, where a memorial service is being planned. Join Larry’s friends for a Celebration of Life on August 25, at the Prairie Valley Hall, from 4 to 9 pm. Prairie Valley is six miles west of La Grange on U.S. 71.
