One Country United for All

This week marks the seventeenth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the United States. For those of us who were alive at that moment, we remember exactly what we were doing when we got the news.

I was in the classroom at the end of the hall at Sacred Heart School. It was a typical Tuesday. We were in the middle of a science lesson when I received a knock on my door. I was handed a note and told to read it and pass it on. The note told what had just happened and we, as teachers, were asked to remain calm and not alert the students. At the bottom of the note was a directive – Start Praying.
