Remember when?
Sept. 17-20, 1968
September rains of 3.61 inches fell on the annual Fayette County Fair, part of the wettest week in La Grange since June 16-23 when 7.11 inches were recorded. Most of the deluge came Saturday night and Sunday morning during the fair’s peak attendance periods.
A two-year-old local boy was rushed to a Galveston hospital for treatment of burns he sustained in an accident at his family’s home. The little boy accidentally knocked over a can containing about a quart of gasoline in the garage near a water heater. He suffered third-degree burns from his waist to his feet in the ensuing blast. Thankfully, his upper chest, hands and face escaped serious injury.
