Betty Dean Powell

Betty Dean Powell, 75, of La Grange, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Betty was born in Galena Park on June 2, 1943, the daughter of Clovis Calvin “C.C.” Dean and Claudia Clotiel (Jane) Dean. She married Ken Powell on July 12, 1962 at Galena Park First Baptist Church. Betty worked as a real estate broker for 46 years. In recent years she was an agent for Heritage Texas Country Properties in Round Top. She was a member of First Baptist Church in La Grange. Betty was very active in her church, as well as various civil and social associations. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ken; two daughters: Dena Powell-Wren and husband, Barry, of Houston; Kendra Powell-Clough and husband, Bill, of The Woodlands; son, Steven Charles Powell of Houston; sister, Eva Jane Mc- Crory and husband, Dan, of Sulphur, LA; brother, Butch Dean and wife, Donna, of Houston; six grandchildren: McKensie Wren, Morgan Wren, Kendall Clough, Cody Clough, Will Powell and Sarah Anne Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 121 S. College St. in La Grange. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018. Burial will follow at Plum Grove Cemetery.
