Delbert “Herb” D. Dunk
Delbert “Herb” D. Dunk, 85, of La Grange, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Delbert was born in Winchester on March 8, 1933, the son of Robert A. Dunk and Ida (Pietsch) Dunk. He married Geraldine Ann Diers on Feb. 8, 1958 at Trinity Hill Lutheran Church in La Grange. Delbert served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He worked for La Grange Ford for thirty years and in the latter part of his career he was promoted to Service Manager. He also was a door greeter at Walmart for a few years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing at the river with family and friends. Geraldine and Delbert enjoyed traveling. One of his hobbies was taking pictures. At all events, he had his camera and VHS recorder with him. He enjoyed visiting the elderly in the nursing home. “Grandpa” will forever be remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sons: Richard Dunk and wife, Shery, of West Point; Ralph Dunk and wife, Melinda, of La Grange; and Michael Dunk and wife, Michelle, of Warda; sister-in-law, Rose Diers of Houston; brotherin- law, Lee Perkins of Winchester; seven grandchildren: Adam Dunk and wife, Ophelia; Matthew Dunk and wife, Breanna; Bradley Dunk and wife, Shelby; Kayley Dunk and fiancée, Trevor; Colton Dunk; Sam Jacob and wife, Shannon; and Morgan Patterson; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and his dedicated caretaker, Margaret Hoffmann He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine; who passed away on August 12, 2010; five brothers and sistersin- law: Wilfred and Anita Dunk, Belmont and Barbara Dunk, Leonard and Leona Dunk, Robert and Claren Dunk, Monroe and Annie Lee Dunk, and two sisters: Iola Perkins and Ida Rena Dunk. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery or to the Mt. Calvary Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.
